We are Off!!!

God is absolutely amazing. Yesterday we went to Jennie's church and the people were just wonderful. They prayed for us and then afterwards, a few of us were talking to the couple who donated the basketball hoops and we were telling them of our new dilemma of the hoops being oversize and we have to pay. We weren't too worried just because we knew God would either let us get an exemption or He would bring in the money.

Then the couple looked at each and pulled out their wallets! My heart stopped as I see them pull out 100s, 50s, and 20s. They gave us the complete $450 for oversize charges!!!! It was absolutely amazing. I started crying tears of joy because I just couldn't believe. God, You are amazing and keep me constantly in awe.

Then another couple invited us all out to lunch! They took us to this really good Mexican restaurant and let us order whatever we wanted. It was completely delicious and this couple was just wonderful as well.

Wow God.....My favorite verse is Psalm 56:4 "I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?" Throughout everything that has happened on this trip. I think this is proof to us all that we don't need to be afraid! God will provide for our every need as long as we completely trust in Him. Our team has definitely had our ups and downs, but our faith never failed. God told us we were going to Africa. Even when we didn't have hardly any money in just 3 weeks before our departure date, even when our donated supplies fell through, even when our luggage was oversized, GOD PROVIDES!!!!!!!!

It's now 5:40am on Monday and we are leaving for the airport at 7:45am. Our flight leaves around 11-something am. We fly to Detroit for an hour layover first, then to Amsterdam, where we will meet up with another girl named Sarah who is flying with us to Entebbe to work with HopeAlive! the WorldVenture orphanage. In Amsterdam we have a 4 hour layover where we will finish our debriefing (since we ran out of time here in Colorado), and then finally we will cross into Africa and get our first African sunset from the plane, over the Sahara Desert! Finally we land in Entebbe at 8:15pm where we will go through customs, meet Brian and Renee Davis (our missionaries), then drive about an hour to Kampala where we will be staying!

Keep praising God, keep praying for safety, health, and ministries. I still stand in awe of my Savior :)

Thank you for all the prayers; this goes to show that prayer is powerful. We love you all and we will be posting more about our trip, so keep checking back!

Tiffany

  1. Well, I have been thinking of you all...all day long. In about 15 minutes (my time) it will be Mikayla'a birthday!!! I remember how wonderful it was 19 years ago to give birth to the most precious little girl I had ever seen. I never realized that someday she would be around the world in Uganda on her 19th birthday. Happy birthday honey and I love you so much and I am so thankful at the wonderful girl you have turned out to be. Have a great b-day and I expect lots of pictures when you get home :) !!! Love you ! MOM

  2. Tiffany,

You have done a wonderful job leading this group. You have all become such a close "family" and will treasure your relationships forever. Tell Paul & Bonafice hi for me. I love you. See you when you get back (or in July at Disneyland).

  4. I just got off the phone with Tiffany and she wanted me to post that they have arrived safely and things are going well. The internet has been down in Uganda so they haven't been able to update the blog. This is not uncommon, even though it is very frustrating sometimes. Their first day of VBS went well and they are excited to be visiting an orphange tomorrow. They have been learning how to cook from scratch and all are adjusting to the different lifestyle well. Tiffany will call me occasionally because we have international service on her cell phone, so if any parent has a concern or question, don't hesitate to e-mail me at ckgoodall@sbcglobal.net. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support.

  7. I am so sorry that the team has been unable to post to the blog. I have talked to Tiffany a few times and things are going well. They went on a safari yesterday and saw some amazing wildlife. When I turned on my phone this morning, I had received a text from Tiffany stating that a baboon thought she had food and was set on getting it from her. So I guess they were able to get pretty up close to the animals :) Below is their itenerary for returning for those of you who need it:

Date: 5/29/09, Airline: KLM Royal DU, Flight 0562, From Entebbe to Amsterdam, departing 10:20pm, arriving 5:50am

Date: 5/30/09, Airline: KLM Royal DU, Flight 6091, From Amsterdam to Portland, departing 10:30am, arriving 11:50am,

I will be talking to Tiffany this evening. If there is anything that anybody needs me to tell the team, please don't hesitate to e-mail me @ ckgoodall@sbcglobal.net.
